I hope you’ve managed to enjoy some sun wherever you are. As usual, my list of places to go and people to see - remains largely intact and I’m not sure how the time has evaporated.

We kicked off the summer with Chris Keenan’s brilliant masterclass. Chris was a joy to have in the studio and the students were lovely. We all enjoyed learning from Chris. The feedback on the course and studio was fantastic and much appreciated.

There has been a bit of a studio re-jig and maintenance over the break, including the dreaded clay sink trap cleaning. A couple of Summer Studio Members have been creating lovely things and Moretonhampstead has had its Flag Festival, Food Festival, and last week the Carnival. It’s such a vibrant little town.

Later this week, we host Sabine Nemet’s Three day throwing intensive, looking at altered forms and oven-ware. We do still have places available so if you are interested and would like to join us, please do just email me.

Classes:

The twelve week throwing classes begin next week on Thursday morning and afternoon. I have moved the seven week Friday evening class to Friday mornings so there is more availability there too. These classes will all be taught by me and I’m really looking forward to catching up with previous and new students.

Caroline’s handbuilding class on Wednesday mornings has a good mix of students already. It’s due to start on 18th September.

The last of this year’s Masterclasses on controlling and refining Handbuilt Form is with Rev jane Sheppard (28-29 Sept). Jane hand-builds beautiful, large vessels. You may have seen her work in the Velarde Gallery in Kingsbridge earlier in the year or at a variety of other venues.

The weekend is pretty-well booked up but last-minute cancellations do happen - so again, let me know if you’re interested.

There are constant reminders that life is too short so if you are looking to learn a new skill or improve your existing pottery skills do sign up. Classes are all small-group sizes, giving you plenty of tutor support and attention and it never matters what point you are starting from.

I’m not really ready for the school term to start again next week but I’m definitely looking forward to spending more time in the studio again.

If you’re restricted by the UK School terms, enjoy this last week of freedom and if you’re not, just be grateful!
