IMOGEN TAYLOR-NOBLE TOWARDS MAKING MOON JARS WORKSHOP

  • Vessel Ceramics 44A Court Street Moretonhampstead, TQ13 8LG United Kingdom (map)

Towards Making Moon Jars One Day Workshop £145

N.B. Not suitable for beginners.

Are you an intermediate/ advanced potter wanting to upscale your hand-building skills?

Imogen will be teaching her generous, fast and expressive techniques to build Moon Jars. This will include her intriguing upside-down coiling method. Building rounded forms this way means working with gravity on your side rather than the piece trying to collapse while still soft.

Come and learn new techniques free from the need for a completed piece. It offers a great opportunity for failing and starting again.

All materials & refreshments are provided. Lunch can be bought locally.

Please bring an apron, notebook and pen.

This will be a small group session (max 8) in our lovely Dartmoor studio. Come and be inspired & meet up with other potters. Bring your Clay Mates!

Tea Bowls - Imogen Taylor-Noble

Imogen’s commitment to sustainability in her making and firing methods is inspirational. She uses wild clays and wood ash for glazes and in 2024 she built a fast-fire Philosophers’s kiln here in Devon which fires on waste wood.

Her work is a response to the ongoing climate emergency, trying to find a way forward as a maker, as an artist and as a citizen of the planet we call home. Her inspiration comes from nature and the ancient Japanese kilns of Bizen and Shiguraki, and traditional and contemporary Korean Buncheong.

Payment:

There is a non-refundable* and non-transferrable £80 deposit at the point of booking with the balance of fees due 3 weeks before the workshop starts.

It is recommended that you take out travel insurance in the event that you cannot attend.

Before you book a course, please make sure you read our terms and conditions here, including cancellations. Please also read our student contract here.
